Leonardo DiCaprio admitted that he has never watched Titanic, which remains a cult classic to this day. It turns out that he avoids watching his own films altogether.

This became known from an episode of Variety and CNN’s “Actors on Actors” program. Jennifer Lawrence, his co-star in Don’t Look Up, once asked him whether he had ever seen Titanic.

“No. I haven’t seen it before,” the actor replied briefly.

Lawrence reacted instantly: “Oh, you should. I bet you could watch it right now, it’s so good.” But instead of joking, the actor explained his position.

“I don’t really watch my own movies, do you?” asked Leonardo DiCaprio.

Lawrence admitted that she also rarely revisits her own roles. She joked she’d watch Titanic if she starred in it, her only exception being American Hustle.

This is not the first time DiCaprio has spoken about his reluctance to watch his own work. In August, he confirmed to Esquire that he rarely revisits his own films.

At the same time, the actor admitted that he watched The Aviator more often than others. DiCaprio called the film special due to working with Scorsese and years spent preparing for the role of Howard Hughes.

Leonardo DiCaprio emphasized that it was then that he first felt full responsibility for the project and still perceives The Aviator as an important stage in his own professional maturation.

Although Titanic remains one of the most successful films in cinema history, it seems that it was not the most important film in his career. James Cameron’s film, starring DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, was a global hit and marked a turning point in the careers of both actors. DiCaprio himself has previously mentioned that working on the film was an experiment that he and Winslet embarked on after independent cinema, without imagining how big the result would be. Kate Winslet herself admitted that the fame from Titanic made her life “unpleasant.”
