Story and tone
On July 2, the adventure sci-fi blockbuster Jurassic World (2025), the seventh installment of the cult Jurassic Park franchise launched by Steven Spielberg in 1993, hit theaters. Dinosaurs once thrilled ordinary theme park visitors, but their moment of glory has now irretrievably passed.
Today, people are no longer surprised by a diplodocus in the middle of New York City that failed to reach its destination as planned. And while the relevant services are busy with the giant, the ambitious head of pharmaceutical giant ParkerGenix, Martin Krebs, makes Zora Bennett, a cool mercenary, an offer she can’t refuse.
The mission is to obtain genetic material from three dinosaurs that will help create a cure for heart disease. To do this, the team travels to the island of Saint-Hubert. Thanks to its favorable climate, the island is still home not only to ordinary dinosaurs, but also to extremely dangerous results of genetic experiments.
Visual imagination
It is clear that the filmmakers focused on returning to the roots, avoiding experiments and fully embracing the spirit of the original adventures. However, this approach appears to be the path of least resistance.
Everything here is so derivative and predictable that it would be more interesting to place bets on one assumption or another than to watch the film itself. For every excellent scene with a quetzalcoatl defending its nest from uninvited guests, or a tyrannosaurus chasing an inflatable boat with homo sapiens insects, there are a number of tedious dialogues or illogical actions.
Music and sound
Sound design is important as it makes the fans feel like what they expect. Loud dinosaur roars, far-off footsteps and abrupt attack noises make the audience feel the danger that is always present.
The music also harks back to the feel of old movies. Big orchestral tunes play at the appearance of dinosaurs, and faster, tense music during the chases and fights. These parts remind us how awe-struck and excited we were before.
Even though the sounds are familiar in many ways, the music still makes the movie sound adventurous as well as how huge the dinosaurs look on screen.
Themes
For the most part, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2025) is as cumbersome and unwieldy as a brachiosaurus, with a contrived and hackneyed plot.
In 1993, filmmakers brought dinosaurs to life on screen, creating a true cinematic miracle. It was the magic of cinema, brought to us by Spielberg and the visual effects artists.
In 2025, Jurassic World seems like a burden to everyone; the studio itself seems unsure of what to do with this giant machine.Viewers have seen everything in the film before- often more than once – and can predict literally every step in advance. The titanosaurs will graze peacefully on the grassy lawn. The T. rex will get its obligatory moment of glory.
Final verdict
In principle, it makes sense to take children to see Jurassic World Rebirth (2025). Adults, however, will have to accept that, unfortunately, there is plenty of room for predictability and boredom here.
