Story and tone
Wednesday is all about the daughter of Gomez and Morticia, Wednesday Addams. She decides that she wants to leave home and go to a boarding school. At that school she encounters a lot of strange people, both students and teachers.
The show was directed by Tim Burton, and written by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. They came to work together to mix horror, comedy and drama which makes it fun to watch.
Voice acting and actors
Jenna Ortega depicts the main character of Wendy. She makes a good job of showing a young rebellious girl, which makes the series more charming.
The series also has a large and diverse cast. In addition to Lawrence, it has stars such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Tim Burton, Jennifer Morrison, Gretchen Mol, Troy Iwata, Tomas de las Heras and many other talented actors.
Visual imagination
The series has excellent cinematography and colorful graphics. In each episode, the creators tried to convey the dark and creepy atmosphere that was characteristic of the original movie and animated series. However, this time they added more vivid colors to the series, making it more modern and appealing to a younger audience.
Themes
One of the features of the series is that it is aimed at an adult audience. It is not a children’s series, but rather a more mature one, where each character has their secrets and hidden motives. Despite the fact that children are among the main characters, they still turn out to be more mature and complex than it may seem at first glance.
Another good thing about “Wednesday” is its writing. Each episode has unexpected twists and many storylines to allow the viewers to become immersed into the world of the Addams Family and enjoy every moment. The show also speaks of the original series and movies so fans of that universe will particularly enjoy the show too. Even though the series was freshly released, many of its viewers and critics have already rated it with good reviews.
Wednesday is an interesting, singular, and complex series. It is great for fantasy fans that like to explore a dark, spooky world with weird and fun characters.
