37 countries participated in the contest. This year Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Montenegro refused to participate, explaining their decision by the lack of funding. There was no Russian participant, whose membership was suspended by EBU last year, while Belarus was disqualified a year earlier for violation of human rights in the country.

Eurovision fans were surprised by the appearance of the Princess of Wales, who played the piano, at the amazing opening of the show in honor of the grand final of Eurovision 2023.

According to The Sun, viewers of the iconic song contest were amazed that just minutes after the program began, 41-year-old Kate sat down at the piano to accompany last year’s champions Kalush Ochestra, who performed the victorious “Stefania.”

The winner was Swedish singer Loreen. She received a total of 583 votes.  Second place went to Finland, represented by performer Käärijä with the song “Cha Cha Cha”. In third place was Israel (Noah Kirell with the song “Unicorn”).

The song, with which Loreen represented Sweden, is about the love of two people and trials. The complicated romantic relationship is at the head of it all, in which the heroine’s bond with her partner is the most important aspect of her life. Despite the challenges, the girl is determined to stay with her man, as his loss would be irreparable. To express her unwavering commitment, Lauryn uses the metaphor of a tattoo to show that her lover is forever rooted in her.

The song “Tattoo” was released on digital platforms on Feb. 25, 2023. It debuted at No. 1 in Sweden, becoming Lauryn’s second Swedish chart topper after “Euphoria.” The song is also number 45 on Spotify’s playlist of the 100 most popular Eurovision songs of all time.
