Among the new things to note is that Mark Gurman previously mentioned the name iPhone 15 Ultra by Bloomberg in his overview of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Previously, that name was only used for the Watch Ultra and the M1 Ultra processor, the most powerful, high-priced and technologically advanced in the range.

If the biggest iPhone is renamed from Pro Max to Ultra, it should far surpass the current iPhone 14 Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro.

CAD drawings recently leaked reveal that the 15th iPhone generation will change externally. The general outline of the straight-edged body will remain the same, but the edges of the frame will be more rounded to make the phone more pleasant to hold. Something similar happened with the iPhone 5C.

CAD drawings from a major case maker show that the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Ultra will have touch buttons on the case. Instead of physical buttons, which can break and need to be replaced, the edges will have touch pads that respond to vibration. The touchpads on the MacBook and the Touch ID button on the iPhone SE work on the same principle: they have no moving parts, but the device responds to touch with a short vibration.

The main innovation in terms of practicality is the new charging jack. Under pressure from the European Union, Apple had to abandon the proprietary Lightning jack for a standard USB-C. This connector is used in Android smartphones, tablets, MacBooks and most iPads and other gadgets. You won’t need to ask your friends if they have the right charger: it will be the same for everyone.
