The touchpads on the MacBook and the Touch ID button on the iPhone SE work on the same principle: they have no moving parts, but the device responds to touch with a short vibration.

The main innovation in terms of practicality is the new charging jack. Under pressure from the European Union, Apple had to abandon the proprietary Lightning jack for a standard USB-C.
